Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek is most popular and beautiful journey in Everest region of Nepal. Trekking around the Gokyo lakes and Gokyo Ri offers us to see the stunning and hear melting view of Everest and other Himalayas. Our 14 days Gokyo lakes and Gokyo Ri starts after you arrive at Kathmandu airport. In Kathmandu we will have a short day trip in which we will visit some of heritage sites of Kathmandu valley. This trek is also a alternative way to trek in Everest region. As we, will move ahead along witnessing the magnificent of Nepal’s biggest formation, Ngozumpa glacier.

This Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri trek is designed for especially those trekking lovers who like to walk in the Everest region without the physical stress to reach the base camp of Everest.

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1300 m/4264 ft)

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing and trek preparation

Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2800m/9184ft), trek to Phakding (2652m/8700ft): 3-4 hours

Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazzar (3440m/010283ft): 5-6 hours

Day 05: Namche Bazzar, acclimatization

Day 06: Namchee Bazzar to Phorse (3810m/13152ft): 11km, 5-6 hrs

Day 07: Phorse village to Machhermo (4470m/14663ft): 5-6 hours

Day 08: Machharmo – Gokyo (4800m/15744ft): 5-6 hours

Day 09: Gokyo Valley: climb Gokyo Ri (5357m/17570ft) and hike to fifth lakes: 5-6 hours

Day 10: Gokyo to Dole: 3-4 hours

Day 11: Dole to Nmache Bazza: 4-5 hours

Day 12: Namche Bazzar to Lukla: 6-8 hours

Day 13: Fly to Kathmandu

Day 14: Final Departure

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1300 m/4264 ft)

Our airport representative of Real Adventure Nepal will be at Tribhuwan International Airport to receive you.Then after he/she will transfer you to your selected hotel. If you are interested to explore the surrounding area then you are free to explore the surrounding view of hotel.

Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing and trek preparation

After having morning breakfast, we will follow our sightseeing program around Kathmandu Valley. We will visit some of UNESCO World Heritage Sites including: Syambunath Temple, Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath & Kathmandu Durbar Square. These all heritage sites will reflect the ancient Nepali culture, archtitechure, religious and history. After sightseeing we will return to our office to make plan for further trip.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2800m/9184ft), trek to Phakding (2652m/8700ft): 3-4 hours

Today we will take a morning flight to Lukla for the dramatic landing on the hillside at Lukla. After arrival at Lukla we will meet our rest of trekking team and porters and then our gentle hour walk will take us up to Phakding.

Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazzar (3440m/010283ft): 5-6 hours

Our trail passes through the pine forest along the Dudh Koshi River, on the way we will cross many more suspension bridges via, monasteries and chortens. From Benkar village,we can take full enjoyment of beautiful view of Mt. Thamserku. Then after our trekking permits will be checked at Monjo as we will enter the Sagarmatha National Park. A descend walk will lead us to Jorsale, last village until we reach Namche Bazzar. Our walk will be enjoyful since our taril will passes though the rivers and then we will reach the Hillary suspension bridge. As we will climb upwards to reach Nmachee Bazzar we will get chance to see the stunning view of mountains including Kwangde Peak, Kusum peak, Kangaru peak, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Tawache, and many more peaks.

Day 05: Namche Bazzar, acclimatization

This day will be our acclimatization day. To prevent ourselves from acute mountain sickness ,we will take rest and stop our trekking journey at least for one day. We will have short hiking up to Khumjung village and from Syangboche village we can enjoy the stunning view of peaks or we can go for tour the quaint street of Namchee Bazzar. Likewise we can also visit the Tourist visitor center where we will able to see the variety of things related to the first Everest ascender  will also displays the Sherpa culture, local flora and fauna. When we look to the Khumjung (large traditional village of Sherpa community), we will get chance to see the monastery. Our trail will climb up to the Syangboche and from there we can enjoy the beautiful view of Kongde, Thamserku and Khumbila mountains. We will return back to Namchee Bazzar.

Day 06: Namchee Bazzar to Phorse (3810m/13152ft): 11km, 5-6 hrs

Today we will leave Namche Bazzar and we will follow the up and down trail. We will be lucky if we will get chance to see the Himalayan animals like: musk, deer and Himalayan Thars. Then after we will slowly descend downwards to Kyanjuma.We will follow the Gokyo trail from Sansa likewise after reaching Mong from there we will get chance to see the beautiful view of peaks licluding AmaDablam, Thamserku, Tawoche and Khumbila. Again continuing the trail we will descend to Dudhkoshi Khola and before reaching Phorse we will climb uphill through rhododendron forest. From here,where we will see the beautiful view of Tawache and Cholaste.

Day 07: Phorse village to Machhermo (4470m/14663ft): 5-6 hours

This day also we will cross the bridge over the Dhudkoshi River,on the way we will get chance to see some of Himalayan species like pheasant, mountain goat, and musk deer etc. Our trail will climb steady from where we can enjoy the breath taking view of mountains including Cho Oyu, Kantega, and Thamserku and many more. We will ascend from Luza village and we will pass through Dudh koshi River. Before reaching Machhemo, we will pass summer grazing hamlets. For the primary treatment we can visit the Himalayan Rescue Hospital if altitude problem arise.

Day 08: Machharmo – Gokyo (4800m/15744ft): 5-6 hours

Our trail will gently ascend on a hill and it will offer us to enjoy the heart melting view of Kangtega, Thamserkhu and Cho- Oyu mountains. Then after our trail will be passing through Chorten and we will reach Phangga. Ahead we will descend to the river before climbing the Ngozumba Glacier. Before reaching our destination place Gokyo we will pass through Longpongo, RabocheTsho and DudhPokhari. Nextly we will move towards the first lakefrom where we can have close view of footprints of a Lama (Buddhist Priest). At last we will be exploring the beautiful nature around the Dudhkoshi River.

Day 09: Gokyo Valley: climb Gokyo Ri (5357m/17570ft) and hike to fifth lakes: 5-6 hours

This day, we will be staying in Gokyo to take some rest. If weather condition seems perfect then firstly we will visit Gokyo Ri (5360m/17586ft). From the top of Gokyo Ri we will be able to observe the Himalayan vista and the tranquil Gokyo lakes too. The second attraction will take us up to Fourth and fifth Gokyo lakes.  Normally fourth lake is located at north side an about 3km. Continuing our trail we will be able to reach fifth lake. Climb up to hill will provide us stunning view of Cho- Oyu, , Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makulu. From Scoundrel’s view point we will have tremendous close up view of beautiful peaks. At last, we can observe the Cho Oyu base camp and NgazumpaGlacier which is regarded as biggest glacier around the world. We will return back to our home.

Day 10: Gokyo to Dole: 3-4 hours

Today, we will descend down passing the Dudh Koshi River, Gokyo lakes and Ngozumba glacier. Continuing the trail, on the way we will get chance to observe the stunning view of Cholatse and Taboche peaks. After arrival at Chorten, over there we will have close view of Thamserku, Cho Oyu, and Kangtega mountains. Passing through Machhermo, Luza and Lhafarma villages we will reach our today’s destination place called Dole.

Day 11: Dole to Nmache Bazza: 4-5 hours

We will descend down on a steep trail to Photse Thanga passing through the rhododendron forest, wildflowers and beautiful waterfalls. On the way, we will get chance to see the Himalayan animals time and again like: mountain goats, musk, deer, pheasants etc. From the center place of Mong, we can have close view of Khumbila peak. Likewise, way to Namche we will get chance to see the stunning view of other beautiful peaks peak including of Taboche, AmaDablam, Thamserku and Kangtega. Then after some couple of walk we will reach an intersection where the trail from Sansa meets our trail. For the last time we will have close view of Lhotse, the tip of Everest, and Tengboche in Nmanche Bazzar.

Day 12: Namche Bazzar to Lukla: 6-8 hours

Descending along steeply rocky trail and crossing the suspension bridge, we will leave Himlayan giants behind us. This day will be our final trek back to Lukla. After reaching Lukla, our trek in mountain will come to end. Rest of our time, we can think back to the past time where we have spent our precious time with beautiful mountain.

Day 13: Fly to Kathmandu

If possible we will try to manage early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu with last glimpse of Everest. Upon arrival at Kathmandu, we will take some rest. On the same day in the evening time, we will have Farewell dinner with our trek leader.

Day 14: Final Departure

Today our Gokyo lakes and Gokyo Ri trel comes to the end. Our airport representative of Real Adventure Nepal will drop you at Tribhuwan Inter\national Airport for final departure. We will wish for your safe and nice journey ahead.
